Biafra: Gowon’s sacrifice preserved Nigeria – APC The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that Nigeria’s former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon’s sacrifice and dedication during the Biafra civil war ensured that the unity and statehood of the country was not destroyed. The Party said this in a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, to felicitate with the elder statesman on the occasion of his 83rd birthday. According to the APC, Gowon will remain a symbol of national unity and a voice of caution and restraint in the national conversation about the direction of the country. Simi out with sophomore album — three years after joining X3M Music

Nigerian singer-sound engineer, Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, has released her sophomore album entitled ‘Simisola’. The eponymous album of the 29-year-old singer was officially released across all music platforms on Friday. Simisola, which contains 15 songs (inclusive of three bonus tracks), has her rumoured flame Adekunle Gold as the sole guest artiste. The main album songs are Remind me, Joromi, Aimasiko, Complete me, Gone for good, Original Baby, One kain, Take Me Back ft Adekunle Gold, O Wa N’be, Smile For Me, Angeline, and Hip-hop Hurray. Love Don’t Care, Jamb Question and Tiff are the bonus tracks. Seyi Keyz, Sess, VTek each produced a song on the album project while Oscar who produced Joromi worked on all the other songs. The singer’s debut album ‘Ogaju’ was released in 2006, at a time when her genre of music was gospel. Griezmann handed 2 game ban for insulting ref

Atletico Madrid forward, Antoine Griezmann was handed a 2-game ban by the Spanish Football Federation on Wednesday after he was sent off at the weekend for insulting the referee. Griezmann was dismissed during Atletico Madrid’s 2-2 draw at Gerona on Saturday during the opening weekend of the La Liga season. The 26-year-old also received a 600-euro ($700) fine, while Atletico were penalised 700 euros. Both have the right to appeal their sanctions. The French International will miss league matches against Las Palmas on Saturday and Valencia on September 9. He was shown a straight red card an hour into Saturday’s match after insulting the referee for not awarding a penalty in his favour. He later apologised.

WTF!!! NBC Bans Olamide’s Wo & Wavy Level, Davido’s IF & Fall And 9ice’s Living Things (See Reasons & Full List)

The Federal Government via the National Broadcasting Corporation, has made firm on its decision to ban Olamide’s anthem and hit track of the moment,  Wo . This is coming a few days after the Federal Ministry of Health had openly aired it displeasure regarding visuals to Wo. In its own opinion, the video portrays a bad message that encourages second-hand smoking. However, NBC did not stop there as they also went further to ban four other hit tunes,  Wavy Level  by YBNL boss Olamide;  FALL  and  IF  by DMW boss, Davido and also  Living Things  by 9ice. You would recall that Falz had earlier called out music acts who entertain lavish lifestyles and also fraud. In view of Falz comment, 9ice’s “Living Things”, was the major talking point. Apparently, we would not be hearing these hit tunes on our air waves again. See the list below:-

Barack Obama’s tweet just became the most ‘liked’ in Twitter’s history

According to Twitter, Obama’s post-Charlottesville tweet has drawn 3.2 million likes, 1.3 million retweets, making it the 5th most retweeted tweet ever. Former President Barack Obama has made history again, it appears. This time his mark has been made in the Twitter universe, on the back of a message and photo that he posted Sunday in response to the weekend’s violent and racially charged protests in Charlottesville, Va. “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion,” was Obama’s message, partially quoting remarks from former South African President and activist Nelson Mandela’s 1994 biography “Long Walk to Freedom.” It is accompanied by a picture (see below) of him greeting a diverse group of children at a day-care center’s window.
